HUL and GSK Consumer to terminate distribution agreement for OTC products

FMCG main Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) and healthcare agency GSK have mutually determined to terminate their settlement for promoting of Over-the-Counter (OTC) and oral care merchandise. The settlement was for manufacturers akin to Crocin, Eno, Iodex, Ostocalcium, Otrivin, and Sensodyne, which have been owned by GSK.

These manufacturers have been distributed by GlaxoSmithKline Shopper.

After HUL acquired GlaxoSmithKline Shopper in 2020, it entered right into a distribution settlement with GSK to promote these OTC and oral care merchandise.

“The corporate, GSKAPL and GSKCPL have mutually agreed and expressed their intention to terminate the agreements with impact from eighth November 2023,” stated HUL.

As per the agreements, the one-year discover interval for termination shall begin from November 9, 2022, it added.

“This shall not have any materials impact on the operations of the corporate,” it added.

In December 2018, GSK Shopper Healthcare introduced its merger with HUL in an all-stock deal at a valuation of the Indian unit of GSK at Rs 31,700 crore.
